Composting Fever

This week’s stories are both about composting. Oftentimes we see the discontinuities between human beings and the natural world. But if we look at how the natural world recycles dead plants and animals to provide the substrate for new life, and compare it to how we can replenish the soil and grow healthier plants  by recycling and composting, we see deep continuities and connections between the way the earth works and takes care of itself, and how we can take of ourselves, each other and the earth. Let’s read Compost Stew, by Mary Siddals and illustrated by Ashley Wollf

and Composting:Nature’s Recyclers by Robin Koontz and Illustrated by Matthew Harrad
