The Story of the Week is The White Snake, one of the many folk tales collected by the brothers Grimm. The White Snake tells the story of a servant whose curiosity leads him to taste a dish that the king keeps hidden from everyone. When the servant is falsely accused of stealing the queen’s ring he realizes that by eating the “forbidden fruit” he can understand the language of any animal and is able to return the ring to the queen and clear his name. Rather than accept riches and remain in the king’s court, he chooses his freedom and the adventure of exploring the world and finding out what he wants to do and be.
