This week’s story is Chipmunk Song By Joanne Rider and pictures by Lynne Cherry. The story artfully combines art, science and storytelling to allow the young listener or reader to enter into the life of the chipmunk and inhabit its world. Joanne Rider has written many other nature themed stories such as the “Snail’s Spell, “White Bear, Ice Bear,” and most recently a “Dragon’s Guide to Making Perfect Wishes.” Lynne Cherry herself has written some amazing nature themed stories including “The Great Kapok Tree,” A River Ran Wild,” and for older kids “How We Know What We Know about Our Changing Climate: Scientists and Kids Explore Global Warming.” So enjoy this beautiful, enchanting, true to life story about how a chipmunk lives!
