The Moon over Star, by Dianna Hutts Aston and illustrated by Jerry Pinkney, explores the imaginative life of a young girl and how the moon landing brings her family together. This story dramatizes the place of the moon in our material and imaginative lives. It chokes me up every time I read it (listen closely and you will notice where my voice catches and I have to pull it together to continue reading). I I think it is something about being a grandparent myself and identifying with Mae’s childhood dreams. Enjoy!
