Earth and Me, Our Family Tree: Nature’s Creatures, by J. Patrick Lewis and illustrated by Christopher Canyon, was commissioned by a group of Japanese educators and publishers to “convey global awareness and our connection to all life.” The rich, evocative, winsome illustrations and the artfully, poetic dialogue summon a world rich with bio-diversity where we are never alone. Some of the habitats are a little off in my eyes ( frogs don’t hang out in the rough, turbulent stretches of rivers that salmon migrate through), but the message and the beauty of the book shine through! Enjoy.
