Black Lives Matter

BLACK LIVES MATTER

Black lives matter. I, Charles Malone, stand with all of those who are outraged and deeply saddened by the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all the black and brown men and women, who have a right to live full, happy, safe lives, free from oppression and injustice. As an early childhood teacher, outdoor educator,  public intellectual, grandfather, father, son, brother, friend, neighbor, citizen, white man, human being, I commit to teaching children about the history and contemporary impact of white racism in the USA, and to empowering students with collective traditions of song, story, art, inquiry, protest, resistance, community-building and transformative personal, social and cultural change. I commit to a lifelong journey of growth, learning, self-reflection; awkward, difficult conversations; courageous action, and painstaking, methodical, collaborative work with others to make our dreams of a more just, happier, healthier, freer, world for all people a reality. Power to the people.

In love and struggle,

Charlie Malone
